Wake-up Call
Do you wake with a headache in the morning? Many of our patients report that they used to wake up with "morning headaches." The muscle imbalance caused by an improper bite can contribute to grinding of the teeth during the night while awake or asleep. Many patients who grind their teeth in their sleep are unaware of this nighttime activity, nevertheless, this stress on the muscles of the head and neck is the usual cause of "morning headaches" and sore muscles. The clinical term for unconscious grinding, taking place either at night or during the day is "bruxism."
