I had been suffering with headaches almost every day for years. Almost as frustrating as the headaches was the fact that the doctors that I visited had nothing to offer me. I realized that my headaches weren't their fault, but was frustrated that even referrals to one specialist after another resulted in no improvement. My doctor seemed to just refer me to the next one down the line, and switch me from one medication to another. I was ready to give up and resign myself to the fact that I was destined to suffer from headaches for the rest of my life.

After examining me as a dental patient, Dr. Reber asked me if I suffered from headaches. My eyes popped open! Why do you ask?? He explained that I had a bite that is often linked to muscle spasm and results in headaches. Needless to say, he didn't need to ask twice if I wanted to do something to treat my headaches!

After years of suffering with my pain, I was so relieved to be able to return to the real world again. After my problem was solved, I felt like a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. I just want to thank you so much for giving me my life back again!

I suffered with debilitating migraine headaches for years. My doctor had limited me to 10 Imitrex pills per month. If I ran out of Imitrex before the month was over, I would suffer in a darkened room with the shades drawn. I had worn all my upper teeth down so that when I smiled, I didn't even show any teeth. I was embarrassed to smile, and so I rarely did. When I sought help from Dr. Hemingway, he advised me that, to create a beautiful smile, he needed to lengthen my teeth to the proper position. He would use neuromuscular dentistry to find the proper position for my jaw and then create my beautiful smile in that position. Since having the treatment done in April 2002, I have not suffered from migraine headaches and don't take medications anymore. My teeth are so beautiful that I smile all the time. This treatment has literally changed my life. I am now socially active with many friends and hobbies, whereas before I was usually homebound and in pain.

"Over the last 15 years, I have had severe headaches that caused me to remain home instead of being out enjoying my family, friends and life. The headaches seemed to be getting worse each year. Every few months, I would go to the dentist with severe pain in one or more teeth, and he would find nothing wrong except severe wear. My teeth had worn down so they looked yellow. Dr. Hemingway recommended, because of the wear and headaches, a neuromuscular appliance. He said that, with new technology, he could find the best position of my jaw so my joints and muscles would be comfortable and my headaches would go away. However, when I got what I thought was another severe toothache and went to see him, he said that the tooth was fine but correcting my bite position would solve the problem. At this point, trusting in his judgment, I went through the muscle relaxation procedures, and a neuromuscular appliance was made for me. On receiving my appliance, I felt so good, having no headache pain, that for 3 days I caught up on all my social visits and was rarely home at all. My daughter, who usually calls me every day to check on me, was so worried because she couldn't reach me by phone that she came over to physically check on me.

Putting my jaw in the correct position has taken away my pain and changed my life. I no longer have to remain at home in pain. I can't wait until I have my new, beautiful smile in this comfortable position!"

I remember distinctly when Dr. Reber asked if I got headaches after looking at how I closed my jaws together. I asked, "How do you know that?" I told him that I got occasional headaches, but that they didnt occur all that frequently. I estimated that they arrived once or twice a week. Dr. Reber asked if I would keep a pain diary to record them. I was shocked by what I learned! I realized that I was getting headaches nearly every day for at least a couple of hours each time. I guess that I had just become accustomed to them.

Dr. Reber explained that an improper jaw position, over time, might result in spasm of the jaw muscles and result in headaches. This was particularly insightful to me because I am a Registered Nurse and work in a hospital pain clinic. We see patients like this all the time. After discovering the possibilities behind by headaches, I decided to proceed with treatment. I am happy to report that, since my treatment in October 2003, I have not experienced a single headache.

I always had spaces between my teeth and all my life I had difficulty pronouncing some words. My teeth had worn down quite a bit because I am in my early sixties. I have all of my teeth including my wisdom teeth and I was not having any pain. I was pleased with the work Dr. Hemingway had done improving my wife's smile so I had a consultation with him. He explained that I was suffering from "bite collapse" due to excessive wear on my teeth but that he could use Neuromuscular Dental Technology to find my proper bite position. He said the muscles that support my lower jaw have a comfortable preferable position that could be found and then the teeth could be lengthened and contoured to support my jaw in that position. We found that my comfortable muscle position allowed my worn down teeth to be lengthened a total of 9 millimeters. Dr. Hemingway made a computer simulation of me with a new smile and made a wax mock-up of my teeth on models to show me how handsome my teeth could be in the new position. I was excited about the changes. I had the total treatment completed: all 32 of my teeth were fixed to the new jaw position. From my before and after pictures you can see a major difference in my smile: the gaps are closed, my teeth are longer, lighter and younger looking. My smile is relaxed and comfortable. I am no longer self-conscious about smiling. People tell me I look 10 years younger. The difficulty I was having with word pronunciation is gone. I have been a patient of Dr. Hemingway's for many years. I had had fillings, cleanings, and the usual dental treatment when I had a problem. However, I found that I was not able to chew my food very well and I was not happy with the appearance of my smile so I asked Dr. Hemingway if there was something he could do. He showed me that my smile was slanted so when I smiled my teeth on the right side did not show as only gums were showing. My teeth were shifted to my right side and my bite was crooked. He assured me all these "problems" could be corrected. He did a computer simulation of me with a new level smile and I went for it. I had a cosmetic gum-lift so teeth would show on the right side. With porcelain restorations he corrected my slanted and crooked bite so now I have beautiful straight teeth. I am also able to chew my food much better. With my business, I am in the public eye everyday. Thanks to Dr. Hemingway and his great staff, and the work they have done for me, I am always confident with my new smile.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hemingway's for over 20 years. We had often talked about closing the spaces between my teeth. Dr. Hemingway was worried that if we just closed spaces the teeth would look short and fat. A few years ago, Dr. Hemingway began taking extensive training in cosmetic dentistry. He was excited the day he told me that he now knew how to close my spaces and make my teeth beautiful and natural looking. He made a computer simulation of a new smile for me. I was excited if he could really do that for my smile. He assured me that he could. I had the treatment done and I totally love my new beautiful smile. I am comfortable, can eat whatever I want and I smile all the time.
