It is highly recommended that you have a dentist supervise the tooth whitening process, which includes an examination prior to the treatment, the preparation of the custom tray (as opposed to an off the shelf boil and fit tray) and a dentist provided gel agent (several times stronger than an off the shelf brand). Results are more predictable with a custom tray and the proper gel strength for your individual situation.
The tooth whitening gel tray fits around the tooth. You keep it in for 1 to 3 hours at home in your leisure time, while reading or watching television. Results depend upon how stained your teeth are to begin with; however, desired results are usually attained within 1 to 3 weeks.
The Tooth Whitening Gel provided by your dentist is significantly stronger than the gel available off the shelf.
