Tooth Whitening

Tooth Whitening

Tooth whitening (also known as Tooth Bleaching) in the form of a home kit has been available since about 1986. Today, there are two different options that you have when whitening your teeth:
Zoom™ Tooth Whitening - Single-visit in-office tooth whitening
Home Kit Tooth Whitening - Tooth whitening with a take-home kit requiring several days of treatment. This form of tooth whitening involves the making of a custom tray with a reservoir to hold a special tooth whitening gel around each tooth.

Generally, tooth whitening will provide the color a patient desires; however, there are times when the desired color cannot be obtained by traditional whitening methods and a bonding treatment or veneers will be required to obtain the desired color.

Facts to consider before selecting the best whitening option for you:

  1. Whitening is a lifetime process. Home Whitening allows you to periodically retreat your teeth to maintain the optimal whitening desired. One-Visit Whitening is an in office procedure though special "touch up" trays are provided that will enable you to do periodic touch-ups as needed.

  2. Cost: Home Whitening is approximately 30% less expensive than the one-visit whitening, but will require more of your time to achieve the desired results. One Visit Whitening may cost more, but will save you time in achieving your desired results.
